Rita Ora Proves That Sustainability Can Be Worn, Anywhere

Words by Bethanie Ashton

Sustainable fashion began as an official movement in the sixties when tie-dye and pre-loved vintage were synonymous of rebellion groups and hippies, though natural materials have forever been a source of body coverings since the beginning of time. As a marketable segment, it might not have grown as popular in recent years without the Internet or the support and advocacy of ethical influencers. Here are some of our recent favorites:

RITA ORARita Ora wearing Makoma heels

Rita Ora was seen at Craig’s in West Hollywood in a conservative camel suit with hints of a black negligée, synched waist belt and our Makoma pumps. Channeling the audacity of environmental activist Makoma Lekalakala whose landmark work has rewritten Africa’s future, these pumps are available in several color ways and leopard print.

ANGELA BASSETTAngela Bassett wearing Sylvia heels

She played Tina Turner in What’s Love Got To Do With It (1993) and was then one of the most powerful films I’d ever watched. Angela Bassett chooses her African American power roles based on principals and values that cannot be compromised, or enslaved, by money. She is one really strong female role model that we loved seeing recently in candy stripes by Dolce Gabbana and our Sylvia heels for Netflix Gunpowder Milkshake.

KRYSTA RODRIGUEZThe Waldorf Astoria looked like a second skin when Krysta Rodriguez landed on its sofa in shimmering a trouser by Lapoint, Maxmara blouse and the metallic Celia laced in jewels and wrapped in luxurious Pinatex leather. The setting introduced Krysta’s role as Liza Minnelli in the Netflix series, Halston and featured in Town and Country Magazine.

VIKTORIA KONEFALActor, Viktoria Konefal Dreams of a Green Future in her editorial with Je June Magazine. “The importance of environmental conservation is far greater than the collective consciousness takes into consideration. Growing up, I have always been drawn to nature. I literally hug trees. I’m in love with the ocean and wildlife. Ignorance is bliss when you’re young, but as I grew up and was taught how much devastation humans are causing to this planet, this cause has taken up a lot of room in my heart.” Featured on the Magazine’s Cover wearing our Celia slingback in vegan Zebra Hair. These Peta approved, vegan dress heels are PVC-free with a bio-based cereal lining and the outsole is 100% recyclable.

LOVI POE
Lovi Po wearing our Martine heels

Filipino actor, Lovi Poe was a twirl of rose pink tulle and our knock out Martine pumps in Peta approved vegan suede with bold metal grommets. The 95mm (3.7 inch) heel height of our Martine elongates the stride even when you’re a petit 5’4” like darling Lovi.

EBRU ŞALLI

Our Daphne pumps featured alongside Misahara and Celine in a poolside shoot with Ebru Şallı. The former Miss Turkey titleholder is a Pilates instructor, mom of two, author and television personality. Her Instagram inspires the rest of us to take time to stretch, sweat, recharge and look fabulous whether at home, out at dinner or beside the pool.

CAROLINA V MARIE

Carolina V Marie

Yasmine Kateb snapped Next Models’ Brooklyn baby, Carolina V Marie in Beverly Hills earlier this year. Los Angeles’ Stylist, Hannah Kerri paired our Sylvia pumps with a film noir ensemble of black tulle and diamond flecks that mirrored the metal hardware that runs along the bridge of our patent Martine. We love the result of this classic blonde bombshell montage.
